Turf Grass Program

Five steps for a healthier lawn & more peace of mind

Spring (February-March)

Apply fertilizer with crabgrass preventer. This application helps to promote color and recovery from damage (such as pests, traffic, or early disease).

Spring 2 (March-April)

Treat lawn for Broadleaf weeds. Early Spring is the best time to treat broadleaf weeds. This is when weeds like dandelions and chickweed are actively growing .

Summer (June-August)

Visually inspect lawn & apply fungicide for disease control. As temperatures and humidity rise, certain turfgrass diseases like Brown Patch and Dollar Spot tend to become more prevalent, especially during the warmer months.

Fall (September-October)

Aerate & over seed lawn, apply fall fertilizer & lime. This step is important to help reestablish healthy turf. During hot, dry weather or due to pests and diseases, fescue lawns can struggle and thin out significantly.

Winter (November-December)

Apply winter fertilizer to lawn. Applying winter fertilizer to your lawn is a great way to promote a healthy root system and help your grass bounce back in the spring.

Optional services

  • Fall – Treat lawn for broadleaf & grassy weeds prior to aerification & overseeding. This helps to reduce competition for new seed & clean up any weeds that made it through summer.
  • Insecticide application to control harmful insects such as grubs & armyworms.
  • Preemergent & Postemergent weed control in plant beds (Preemergent herbicides help to prevent weeds from sprouting while postemergent herbicides will take care of the weeds after they appear.
